Managing inventory service–Inventory reporting

The Inventory Reporting panel is launched by selecting Manage Inventory Service in the SAN Volume Controller Console. Use this panel to manage inventory service, assign users to receive inventory reports, and schedule and preview inventory reports.

Introduction

You can adjust the contact information, adjust the frequency of inventory e-mail, or manually send an inventory e-mail using the SAN Volume Controller Console. Inventory information is automatically reported to IBM when you activate error reporting. Inventory information that is sent to IBM can include the following information:
  • Time stamp
  • Contact information, including name and phone number
  • Machine location
  • Software level
  • License information
  • Cluster vital product data (VPD)
  • Node VPD for each node in the cluster
  • Software VPD
  • Processor information
  • Memory information
  • Fibre-channel card information
  • SCSI device information or IDE device information
  • Front-panel assembly information
  • Uninterruptible power supply information

Attributes

The following attributes are displayed in the table:

User Name
Displays the name of the user.
User Address
Displays the e-mail address of the user.

Fields

You can update the following fields:

Inventory Schedule (in days)
Enter the number of days to generate inventory reports. You can set reports to generate every 1-15 days.

Actions

The following actions are available:

Manage E-mail Users
Click this button to work with e-mail users that receive inventory reports.
Update Inventory Schedule
Click this button to change inventory scheduling to the value in the Inventory Schedule field.
Preview Inventory Report
Click this button to preview the inventory report.
Send Inventory Report
Click this button to send a single inventory report. This option can be used to test the email inventory system or to send an updated inventory report.
Return
Click this button to return to the previous panel.
