Creating FlashCopy mappings–Introduction

Use the Create FlashCopy® Mappings wizard in the SAN Volume Controller Console to create FlashCopy mappings between source and target virtual disks (VDisks). The wizard takes you through the steps for creating a FlashCopy mapping.

A FlashCopy mapping defines the relationship between a source virtual disk (VDisk) and a target VDisk. The FlashCopy feature makes an instant copy of a VDisk at the time that it is started.

To learn more about FlashCopy feature and FlashCopy mappings, click View Tutorial to launch the FlashCopy overview e-Learning module which describes the FlashCopy feature as well as multi-target, incremental, and cascading FlashCopy mappings.

To create a FlashCopy mapping, complete the following tasks in the wizard:
  1. Set the properties for the FlashCopy mapping
  2. Filter the source VDisk
  3. Select the source VDisk
  4. Select the target VDisk
  5. Select an I/O group
  6. Verify the FlashCopy mapping attributes
