Starting FlashCopy mapping: Panel help

Use the Starting FlashCopy® Mapping panel in the SAN Volume Controller Console to confirm the start of FlashCopy mapping in a consistency group.

Introduction

Starting a mapping initiates a background copy of the source virtual disk (VDisk) to the target VDisk. When a source VDisk is in the preparing state, a forced write of cached data is being performed. This ensures any data that is cached is written on the source VDisk before the copy operation starts. If you have selected a FlashCopy mapping to start and it is not yet in the prepared state, then click Prepare and Start that displays on this panel.

Actions

The following actions are available:

Start: Click this button to start a FlashCopy mapping.
Prepare and Start: Click this button to prepare and then start the FlashCopy mapping. This option only displays when the selected FlashCopy mapping is not in the Prepared state.
Cancel: Click this button to exit the panel without starting a FlashCopy mapping.
