Creating an image mode virtual disk–Introduction

You can create an image mode virtual disk (VDisk) on the cluster using the Create Image Mode Virtual Disk wizard in the SAN Volume Controller Console.

Image mode VDisks are VDisks that have a direct relationship with one MDisk. When you create an image mode VDisk, a direct mapping is made between extents that are on the MDisk and extents that are on the VDisk.

The wizard takes you through the following steps to create an image mode VDisk:
  • Name the image mode VDisk and set attributes
  • Create an image mode VDisk with mirrored copies
  • Select MDisks
  • Select I/O groups, preferred node, and MDisk groups
  • Verify the attributes
