As part of the Create
an MDisk Group wizard in the SAN Volume Controller Console,
you need to select an extent size for the managed disk (MDisk) group.
Introduction
The SAN Volume Controller divides
each MDisk into chunks of equal size called extents. Extents
are numbered
from zero, sequentially, from the start to the end of the MDisk.
Important: - The extent
size determines the amount of storage that can be virtualized.
- Select
the largest extent size possible to maximize your virtualized storage.
- You cannot change the extent size of an MDisk group after the
MDisk group
is created.
- All MDisks in the MDisk group must have the same
extent size.
- You cannot migrate a VDisk with one extent size
into an MDisk group with
a different extent size.
