Use the Analyze Error Log panel in the SAN Volume Controller Console to
view and analyze errors in the log.
Introduction
You
can control the results that are displayed by selecting the appropriate
analysis options. For example, you can display the whole log, or you
can filter the log so that only errors, events, or unfixed errors
are displayed. You can also sort the results by selecting the appropriate
display options. For example, you can sort the errors by error priority
(lowest number = most serious error), or by date. If you sort by date,
you can specify whether the newest or oldest error is shown at the
top of the table. You can also specify the number of entries to display
on each page of the table. The default number is 10; the maximum number
is 99.
Fields
You
can select the following analysis options to display results in the
error log:
- Show all errors and events
- Select this option if you want all error and events displayed
in the cluster error log.
- Show all errors
- Select this if you want all errors, which are hardware or software
problems that the cluster software detects. Errors are recorded in
the cluster error log and require a repair action.
- Show all events
- Select this option to display all the events in the error log.
Events include both errors and informational messages.
- Show all unfixed errors
- Select this option to display errors that were detected and recorded
in the cluster error log that have not been corrected or repaired.
- Show all errors or events matching code
- Select this option to display errors that match the specified
error code.
You can select the following display options
for results in the error log:
- Sort by error priority
- Select this option to display the errors by their priority to
be fixed. Selecting this option shows results where the most critical
errors are displayed first.
- Sort by date with newest first
- Select this option to display errors with the most recent timestamp
first.
- Sort by date with oldest first
- Select this option to display errors with the latest timestamp
first.

in the error log results. The default value is 10.
Actions
The
following actions are available:
- Process
- Click this button to display the entries that are in the error
log. If you click Process, the results of the
analysis are displayed in a table. If the table consists of several
pages, use the arrow links that are displayed at the bottom of the
table to scroll through the table. To view a specific page of the
table, enter the page number in the field next to the Go
to page button and click Go to page.
Click the sequence number for a specific entry to display additional
information for that entry.
Note: If the entry is an error record,
you can modify its status. For example, you can change a fixed error
to unfixed, and an unfixed error to fixed.
- Clear Log
- Click this button to clear entries that are in the error log.
Attention: This action is destructive. Use it only
when you have either rebuilt the cluster or have fixed a major problem
that has caused entries in the error log that you do
not want to fix manually.
