Use the License Settings panel in the SAN Volume Controller Console to
select the appropriate licensing scheme for your cluster.
Introduction
Capacity licensing
is based on the number of terabytes (TB) that are available for base
virtualization, and the FlashCopy® feature
and the Metro Mirror and Global Mirror feature. Capacity licensing
is the initial licensing scheme if you purchased SAN Volume Controller (5639-VC*).
Physical disk licensing is based on the number of
physical disks that you are virtualizing and whether you selected
to license the FlashCopy feature,
the Metro Mirror and Global Mirror feature, or both of these features.
If you purchased SAN Volume Controller Entry
Edition (5639-VW*),
then physical disk licensing is your initial licensing scheme.
When you install SAN Volume Controller,
you must select the appropriate licensing scheme that the purchased
product license authorizes you to use. You can later change from
physical disk licensing to capacity licensing, but you must purchase
the alternative licensing scheme through IBM®.
