Viewing nodes

The Viewing Nodes panel in the SAN Volume Controller Console displays details about all the nodes in a cluster. From this panel, you can work with configured nodes or view detailed configuration information for them.

Attributes

The following attributes are displayed in the table:

Select
Allows you to select the node to use to perform an action from the task list.
Note: Only one row can be selected at a time.
ID
Displays the system-assigned ID of the node.
Name
Displays the name that is assigned to this node. If you have not yet assigned a name, a default name is assigned. The default name is the string node, which is followed by the system-assigned ID. You can click the link in this column to display detailed information about the node.
State
Displays the current state of the node. The following values are possible:
Adding
Indicates that the node has been added to the cluster but is not synchronized with the state of the cluster.
Deleting
Indicates that the cluster is in the process of deleting the node. Any VDisk-to-host mappings and copy services interactions are being deleted.
Flushing
Indicates that the node is clearing its cache.
Online
Indicates that the node is operational, assigned to a cluster, and has access to the fibre-channel storage area network (SAN) fabric.
Offline
Indicates that the node is not operational. The node has been assigned to a cluster but is not available on the fibre-channel SAN fabric. Run the directed maintenance procedures to determine the problem.
WWNN
Displays the worldwide node name.
I/O Group
Displays the name of the I/O group that this node belongs to. The default name is the string io_grp, which is followed by the system-assigned ID.
Config Node
Indicates if this node is the configuration node for the cluster. The following values are possible:
  • Yes
  • No
iSCSI Name
Displays the iSCSI qualified name (IQN) for the node. For SAN Volume Controller nodes this is always iqn.1986-03.com.ibm:2145.<cluster name>.<node name>, where <cluster name> and <node name> depend on the values configured for the cluster.
iSCSI Alias
Displays the alias name for the node which identifies it to the iSCSI-attached host. The alias name can consist of any printable ASCII character, but cannot begin or end with a space. An alias name cannot exceed 79 characters.
Hardware Model
Displays the current model type of the hardware. The following values are possible:
  • CF8
  • 8A4
  • 8G4
  • 8F4
  • 8F2
  • 4F2
  • Unknown
Uninterruptible Power Supply Serial Number
Displays the serial number of the uninterruptible power supply.
Uninterruptible Power Supply Unique ID
Displays the system-assigned ID of the uninterruptible power supply.

Actions

You can select one of the following tasks from the task list:
  • Add a Node
  • Rename a Node
  • Delete a Node
  • Shut Down a Node
  • Modify iSCSI Alias
  • Remove iSCSI Alias
  • Modify Partner Node
  • Show Dependant VDisks
Note: With the exception of the Add a Node task, you must first select a node before you can select a task.
Go
Click this button after selecting a task from the task list. Clicking Go launches the panel for the task that you selected.
Refresh
Click this button to refresh the table with changed values.
