In the event that you lose contact with the SAN Volume Controller Console,
there are several actions that you can perform to test the status
of a cluster.
Problem
If
your network goes down, the Availability Status can still display
as OK.
If your network goes down when you are
using the SAN Volume Controller Console,
the clusters that are managed by the SAN Volume Controller Console are
not available. The Availability Status in the Viewing Clusters
panel still shows OK. In this case, the Availability
Status does not accurately reflect the status of the cluster.
Investigation
- The Availability Status in the Viewing Clusters panel does
not accurately reflect the status of the cluster. The reason is the IBM® System Storage® SAN Volume
Controller Pegasus Server service
has a 15-minute timeout.
- You can do any of the following actions to test the status of
the cluster:
- Wait for the 15 minutes to expire
- Delete the cluster and then add the cluster
Note: If the SSH keys
are stored on your host and on the cluster, it is not necessary to
delete and then add the administrative ID.
- Use the Reset SSH Fingerprint action
Note: A side effect
of the reset action is that the status of the cluster is checked.
