Viewing Metro Mirror and Global Mirror relationships

Use Viewing Metro and Global Mirror relationship panel in the SAN Volume Controller Console to view all Metro Mirror or Global Mirror relationships. The maximum number of Metro Mirror and Global Mirror relationship is 8192 per cluster.

Introduction

To learn more about the Metro Mirror and Global Mirror feature and Metro Mirror and Global Mirror relationships, click View Tutorial to launch the Mirroring overview e-Learning module that describes how these Copy Services can help administrators migrate, back up, and recover data by creating copies of virtual disks (VDisks).

Attributes

The following attributes are displayed in the table:

Select
Allows you to select a relationship to use to perform an action from the task list.
Name
Displays the name of the mapping. You can click on the link in this column to display detailed information about the relationship.
State
Displays the current state of the relationship. The following states are possible:
Inconsistent Stopped
Indicates the primary VDisk is accessible for read and write I/O operations, but the secondary VDisk is not accessible for either. A copy process must be started to make the Secondary VDisk consistent.
Inconsistent Copying
Indicates the primary VDisk is accessible for read and write I/O operations but the secondary VDisk is not accessible for either. This state is entered after a Start command is issued to a consistency group in the InconsistentStopped state. This state is also entered when a Start command is issued with the force option to a consistency group in the Idling or ConsistentStopped state.
Consistent Stopped
Indicates the secondary VDisk contains a consistent image, but it might be out-of-date with the primary VDisk. This state can occur when a relationship is in the ConsistentSynchronized state and experiences an error that forces a freeze of the consistency group. This state can also occur when a relationship is created with the CreateConsistentFlag set to TRUE.
Consistent Synchronized
Indicates the primary VDisk is accessible for read and write operations. The secondary VDisk is accessible for read-only operations.
Idling
Indicates the master VDisks and auxiliary VDisks are operating in the primary role. Therefore, both VDisks are accessible for write operations.
Idling Disconnected
Indicates the VDisks in this half of the consistency group are all operating in the primary role and can accept read or write operations.
Inconsistent Disconnected
Indicates the VDisks in this half of the consistency group are all operating in the secondary role and cannot accept read or write operations.
Consistent Disconnected
Indicates the VDisks in this half of the consistency group are all operating in the secondary role and can accept read operations but cannot accept not write I/O operations.
Copy Type
Displays the copy type of the relationship. The following types are possible:
  • Metro
  • Global
Master Cluster
Displays the name of the cluster that contains the master virtual disk (VDisk) in this relationship.
Master VDisk
Displays the name of the master VDisk in this relationship.
Auxiliary Cluster
Displays the name of the cluster that contains the auxiliary VDisk in this relationship.
Auxiliary VDisk
Displays the name of the auxiliary VDisk in this relationship.
Consistency Group
Displays the name of the consistency group that contains this mapping.
Primary
Indicates which VDisk is the primary VDisk. The following values are possible:
  • Any
  • Master
  • Auxiliary
Progress (%)
Displays the percentage of the background copy that is complete. This value can be 0% - 100%.

Actions

You can select one of the following tasks from the task list:
  • Create a Relationship
  • Delete a Relationship
  • Modify a Relationship
  • Start Copy Process
  • Stop Copy Process
  • Switch Copy Direction
Note: With the exception of the Create a Relationship task, you must first select a Metro Mirror or Global Mirror relationship before you can select a task.
Go
Click this button after selecting a task from the task list. Clicking Go launches the panel for the task that you selected.
