Use the Modifying a Host panel in the SAN Volume Controller Console to
change the attributes for a host object.
Attributes
The
following attributes are displayed in the table:
- Host Name
- Displays the current name of the host.
- Host ID
- Displays the system-assigned ID for this host.
- Type
- Displays the current type of host. The following values are possible:
- Port Count
- Displays the number of ports (WWPNs and iSCSi names) that are associated with
this host object.
- I/O Group Count
- Displays the current number of I/O groups that are currently mapped
to this host.
- CHAP Secret
- Displays the shared secret that is used to authenticate the SAN Volume Controller cluster
to the iSCSI-attached hosts..
Fields
You
can update the following fields to change the attributes of the host:
- New Name
- Enter the new name of the host. The host name can be a maximum
of 15 characters.
- Type
- Select the host type. The following values are possible:
- I/O Groups
- Select the I/O groups to map the host object to. The I/O groups
that are highlighted in the list have a current mapping with the host
object. Click the I/O group in the I/O group list.
To select multiple I/O groups from the list, press Ctrl while you
click on the name of the I/O groups. The list contains all of the
I/O groups that can have mappings with the host object.
- Connection Type
- Select the type of connection that the host uses to attached to
the cluster. The following options are available:
- Fibre Channel
- Select this option if the host attaches to the cluster through
fibre channel connections. If you select this options, then specify
the following attributes for the fibre channel connection:
- Fibre Channel Port Mask
- Specify the port login mask for the host. For each login between
a host HBA port and node port, the node examines the port mask that
is associated with the host object to determines if access is allowed
or denied. If access is denied, the node responds to SCSI commands
as if the HBA port is unknown. Valid mask values range from 0000 (no
ports enabled) to 1111 (all ports enabled). For example, a mask of
0011 enables port 1 and port 2. The default value is 1111 (all ports
enabled). You can use a port mask to control the node target ports
that a host can access.
- iSCSI
- Select this option if the host attaches to the cluster through
iSCSI connections. If you select this option, then specify the following
attributes for the iSCSI connection:
- CHAP Authentication Secret
- Enter the shared secret that is used to authenticate the SAN Volume Controller cluster
to the iSCSI-attached hosts. To remove the current CHAP authentication
secret, select Remove CHAP Authentication Secret.
Actions
The
following actions are available:
