Starting statistics collections

You can start the collection of cluster statistics from the Starting the Collection of Statistics panel.

The SAN Volume Controller records statistics on block read and write activity within the cluster. This information is primarily used for monitoring performance. The SAN Volume Controller collects three types statistics: managed disk (MDisk) statistics, virtual disk (VDisk) statistics, and node statistics. The statistics are collected on a per-node basis which means that the statistics for a VDisk are for that particular node. Each node maintains a number of counters. The counters are reset to zero when a node is booted or reset. Each of these counters is sampled at the end of each statistic collection interval.

Perform the following steps to start the collection of cluster statistics.

  1. Click Manage Clusters > Start Statistics Collection in the portfolio. The Starting the Collection of Statistics panel displays.
  2. Type the length of the interval to collect statistics.
  3. Click OK.
