To use the SAN boot feature with a Sun SPARC host that
is using the SAN Volume Controller,
the boot disk must be encapsulated by the VERITAS Volume Manager.
Encapsulation is the method for placing the boot disk under Volume
Manager's management.
You must have your VERITAS Volume Manager administration documentation
to complete the following steps.
Use these high-level steps to ensure that your boot disk
is encapsulated by the Volume Manager:
- Configure your HBA for SAN boot.
- Configure the host bus adapter (HBA) for static port binding.
- Configure the VDisk that is to be used as your SAN boot
disk and then map the VDisk to the host.
- Configure the LUNs for use with VERITAS Volume Manager
with DMP.
- Mirror the boot volume onto the discovered LUNs using the
instructions in the VERITAS Volume Manager administration documentation.
