Signing on to the SAN Volume Controller Console
You can sign on to the SAN Volume Controller Console from
the IBM® System Storage® Productivity
Center,
master console, or another system that meets the browser requirements
for the SAN Volume Controller Console.
Signing on to the cluster
Use the Sign On to the Cluster panel in the SAN Volume Controller Console to
authenticate to the selected cluster.
Creating e-mail event notification
Use the Create E-mail Event Notification wizard in the SAN Volume Controller Console to
set up event notifications through an e-mail server. When events occur,
notifications are sent to the e-mail users that you have specified.
You can specify an e-mail server to send event notifications and inventory
reports to the IBM Support Center
and local e-mail users.
Managing e-mail event notification
Use the E-mail Event Notification panel in the SAN Volume Controller Console to
set up and manage e-mail event notifications and inventory reporting
notifications.
Managing e-mail users
Use the Manage E-mail Users panel in the SAN Volume Controller Console to
update or add e-mail users who receive event and inventory notifications.
These event notifications keep e-mail recipients informed of potential
problems that are related to your cluster configuration and provide
prompt responses to these issues.
Managing e-mail service
Use the Manage E-mail Service panel in the SAN Volume Controller Console to
change e-mail service settings, test error notifications, change contact
details, and stop e-mail service. You can also
add up to six additional e-mail servers. The SAN Volume Controller contacts
each e-mail server in succession until a response is returned.
Managing inventory service–Inventory reporting
The Inventory Reporting panel is launched by selecting
Manage Inventory Service in the SAN Volume Controller Console.
Use this panel to manage inventory service, assign users to receive
inventory reports, and schedule and preview inventory reports.
