Use the Verify Attributes panel in the Create a Virtual
Disk wizard in the SAN Volume Controller Console to
validate that the attributes for the new virtual disk (VDisk) and
any additional copies of a VDisk are correct.
Attributes
The
following attributes are displayed in the table:
- Type
- Displays the VDisk type. The following values are possible:
- Striped
- Indicates that the VDisk was created from multiple managed disk
(MDisks) that are in the specified MDisk group or groups. Extents
are allocated on the MDisks in the specified order.
- Sequential
- Indicates that the VDisk was created from one MDisk in the specified
MDisk group or groups. Extents are sequentially allocated on the MDisk.
- Number of VDisk to create
- Displays the number of VDisks which are being created.
- I/O Group Name
- Displays the name of the I/O group that contains this VDisk.
- MDisk Group Name(s)
- Displays the name or names of the MDisk groups that contains the
VDisk or all VDisk copies. If additional VDisk copies are also created,
the copies can be contained in different MDisk groups.
- VDisk Name
- Displays the name of the VDisk.
- Preferred Node
- Displays the name of the preferred node for the VDisk.
- Managed Disk(s)
- Displays the name or names of the MDisk that contains the VDisk
or copies of the VDisk. If additional copies of the VDisk are also
created, the copies can use different MDisks.
- Capacity
- Displays the size of the VDisk in megabytes.
- Space to initially allocate
- Displays the amount of space that is allocated for a space-efficient
VDisk and for copies of the VDisk. This value can be displayed in
either megabytes (MB) or in a percentage.
- Warning level
- Displays the warning threshold for used capacity of the VDisk
or VDisk copy. When this value is reached, a message is sent to notify
you that the used capacity of the VDisk has been reached. This value
is displayed as a percentage.
- Format before use
- Indicates whether the VDisk is formatted before use.
- Autoexpand
- Indicates if the real size is automatically expanded for the VDisk
or VDisk copies. The following values are possible:
- Grain size
- Displays the grain size in kilobytes (KB) for the VDisk.
- Cache Mode
- Select the type of cache mode to use for the VDisk. The following
values are possible:
- Read/Write
- Indicates that all read and write I/O operations that are performed
by the VDisk are stored in the cache.
- None
- Indicates that all read and write I/O operations that are performed
by the VDisk are not stored in the cache.
- Unit Device Identifier
- Displays the unit device identifier for the VDisk. This attribute
is used only by hosts that are using the OpenVMS operating system.
For other operating systems, setting a unit device identifier is not
required.
- Mirrored
- Displays whether the VDisk contains mirrored copies.
- Synchronization Rate
- Displays the mirror synchronization rate for the VDisk. A value
of zero (0) disables synchronization. The default value is 50 (2 MB
per second).
The following table shows the relationship of the
rate value to the data copied per second.
