You can migrate all the data that is associated with any
type of virtual disk (VDisk) to an image mode VDisk using the Migrate
to an Image Mode VDisk wizard in the SAN Volume Controller Console guide
you through the steps for migrating data from a virtual disk to a
different managed disk.
An
image mode VDisk is special VDisks that have a
direct relationship with one MDisk. If you have an MDisk that contains
data to merge into the cluster, you can create an image mode VDisk.
When migrating a VDisk to an image mode VDisk, the original VDisk
can be the following types:
- Managed mode VDisk, which can be either a striped or sequential
VDisk and therefore is mapped to several managed disks (MDisks)
- Image mode VDisk, which is mapped to exactly one MDisk
- A mirrored copy of VDisk
After the wizard is complete, the VDisk is an image mode VDisk
that is mapped to one image mode MDisk. During the wizard process,
you will perform the following tasks:
- Select the target MDisk that the data will be migrated to.
- Select the copy of the VDisk that will be migrated
- Select the MDisk group into which the MDisk must be placed after
the migration has completed.
- Select the number of threads to devote to the migration.
- Verify all of the attributes that you specified
