Verifying VDisk copies

Use the Verifying VDisk Copies panel in the SAN Volume Controller Console to start the virtual disk (VDisk) copy verification process for a selected VDisk copy. The VDisk copy verification process checks if data on the copies matches the data on the primary VDisk. You can select actions that the SAN Volume Controller Console to takes if differences are found during verification.

Fields

The following fields can be updated:

If differences are found
Select the action that you want the system to take when it detects discrepancies between the primary VDisks and copies. The following actions are possible:
Stop on first difference
Select this option to stop the verification process after the first difference is found. Use this option if you only want to verify if the VDisk copies are identical. You can run this option, starting at different Logical Block Addresses (LBAs), to count the number of differences on a VDisk.
Resync copies with primary
Select this option to synchronize sectors on the copy that are not identical to sectors on the primary VDisk copy. Synchronization makes the selected copy identical to the primary VDisk copy. Use this action if you are sure the primary VDisk copy data is correct, or that your host applications can handle incorrect data.
Create virtual medium error
Select this option to place virtual medium errors where differences are found. Use this option if you are unsure what the correct data is, and do not want an incorrect version of the data used.
Starting Logical Block Address (LBA)
Specify a starting LBA for the selected verification process. The LBA is a block number on a disk. You can enter an LBA value from 0 to full disk size minus one.
