These panel descriptions apply to all cluster panels that
are part of the SAN Volume Controller Console.
Creating a cluster The Create New Cluster wizard in the SAN Volume Controller Console provides
setup for creating a new cluster.
Adding a cluster
You can access the Adding a Cluster panel
by selecting the Add a Cluster action from the task list
and clicking Go on the Viewing Clusters panel.
Analyzing the error logs
Use the Analyze Error Log panel in the SAN Volume Controller Console to
view and analyze errors in the log.
Viewing SNMP notification settings
Use the Viewing SNMP Notification Settings panel in the SAN Volume Controller Console to
display Simple Network Message Protocol (SNMP) servers that are configured
to receive notifications from the cluster.
Viewing syslog notification settings
Use the Viewing Syslog Notification Settings
panel in the SAN Volume Controller Console to
view and specify syslog servers to receive syslog messages from a SAN Volume Controller cluster.
Backing up a cluster configuration
Use the Backing Up a Cluster Configuration panel in the SAN Volume Controller Console to
create a backup of your cluster configuration settings.
Deleting a cluster configuration
Use the Deleting a Cluster Configuration panel in the SAN Volume Controller Console to
delete backed up versions of cluster configuration files.
Dumping cluster configuration
You can dump the data for the cluster configuration
into a file
from the Dumping the Cluster Configuration panel in the SAN Volume Controller Console.
Modifying IP addresses
Use the Modify IP Address panel in the SAN Volume Controller Console to
change the IP addresses that are associated with the cluster.
Modifying port settings
Use the Modify Port Settings panel in the SAN Volume Controller Console to
change existing cluster Ethernet port settings. If you are changing
IP setting that you are currently using to connect to the cluster,
you may need to re-establish the connection to the cluster.
Clearing port settings
Use the Clearing Port Settings in the SAN Volume Controller Console to
clear the IP address settings for the selected port. If you clear
the IP address settings for the cluster that you are currently connected
to, you may need to reconnect to the cluster.
Clearing all port settings
Use the Clearing All Port Settings in the SAN Volume Controller Console to
clear all the IP address for both the cluster Ethernet ports. If you
clear the IP address settings for the cluster that you are currently
connected to, you may need to reconnect to the cluster.
Configuring iSNS server
Use the Configuring iSNS Server panel in the SAN Volume Controller Console to
configure the Internet Storage Name Service (iSNS) server which is
used to manage iSCSI targets and for iSCSI discovery.
Removing iSNS server configuration
Use the Remove iSNS Server Configuration panel in the SAN Volume Controller Console to
remove the Internet Storage Name Service (iSNS) server that is currently
configured for the SAN Volume Controller cluster.
The iSNS server manages iSCSI targets and performs iSCSI discovery.
Configuring cluster iSCSI authentication
Use the Configuring Cluster iSCSI Authentication panel
in the SAN Volume Controller Console to
configure Challenge-Handshake Authentication Protocol (CHAP) to authenticate
the SAN Volume Controller cluster
to the iSCSI-attached hosts. With CHAP authentication a secret passphrase
is shared between the iSCSI-attached hosts and SAN Volume Controller cluster.
After you configure SAN Volume Controller cluster
to use CHAP authentication, you must update the SAN Volume Controller configuration
of each iSCSI-attached host to specify the CHAP secret it uses to
authenticate with SAN Volume Controller cluster.
Removing a cluster
You can access the Removing a Cluster panel
by selecting the Remove a Cluster action from the task list and clicking Go on
the Viewing Clusters panel.
Modifying a cluster
You can access the Modifying a Cluster panel
by selecting the Modify a Cluster action from the task list and clicking Go on
the Viewing Clusters panel.
Setting cluster time
Use the Setting Cluster Time panel in the SAN Volume Controller Console to
view or change the current cluster settings for the date, time, and
time zone. You can also configure time settings by using a Network
Time Protocol (NTP) server, which can be used to set the cluster time
from an outside source. When you use the NTP server, you ensure that
the time settings are consistent across different clusters.
Showing capacity information
The Capacity Information for Cluster panel in the SAN Volume Controller Console displays
space information for the cluster.
Starting statistics collection
You can start the collection of cluster statistics from
the Starting the Collection of Statistics panel in the SAN Volume Controller Console.
Stopping statistics collection
You can stop the collection of statistics for
the cluster from
the Stopping the Collection of Statistics panel in the SAN Volume Controller Console.
Shutting down the cluster
Use the Shutting Down Cluster panel in the SAN Volume Controller Console to
shut down a cluster.
Software upgrades
The Software Upgrade panel in the SAN Volume Controller Console displays
information about upgrade status and the availability of upgrades.
Viewing fabrics
Use the Viewing
Fabrics panel in the SAN Volume Controller Console to
view the connectivity output that is associated with this cluster.
Viewing clusters
You can view all of the clusters that are
managed by the SAN Volume Controller Console.
Viewing general properties for a cluster
Use the Viewing General
Properties panel in the SAN Volume Controller Console to
view the general information about a cluster.
Viewing IP addresses
Use the Viewing IP Address panel in the SAN Volume Controller Console to
view the IP addresses associated with the cluster.
Viewing remote authentication properties
Use the Viewing Remote Authentication Properties on the SAN Volume Controller Console to
view attributes for the remote authentication service which is used
by remote users to access the cluster.
Viewing space properties
Use the Viewing Space Properties panel in the SAN Volume Controller Console to
view the current space settings for the cluster.
Viewing statistical properties
Use the Viewing Statistical Properties panel
in the SAN Volume Controller Console to
view information on statistical collection for a cluster.
Viewing Metro and Global Mirror properties
Use the Viewing Metro and Global Mirror Properties panel
in the SAN Volume Controller Console to
view Metro Mirror and Global Mirror properties related to the cluster.
Viewing iSCSI properties
Use the Viewing iSCSI Properties panel in the SAN Volume Controller Console to
view attributes that are associated with iSCSI-attached hosts.
Viewing SNMP properties
Use the Viewing SNMP Properties panel in the SAN Volume Controller Console to
view the Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) properties for
