Introduction This document describes how to install version 6.1.0.10 of the Storwize V7000 (2076) software. Please refer to the Recommended Software List and Supported Hardware List on the support website: http://www.ibm.com/storage/support/storwize/V7000 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2. Available Education A course on Storwize V7000 Planning and Implementation is available. For further information or enrolment, contact your local IBM representative. Visit the support website for online learning materials and tutorials, IBM Redbooks and training information. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3. Pre-Requisites Storwize V7000 Upgrade Information Before installing this code level please check the following pre-requisites are met. Also please note the concurrent upgrade (upgrade with I/O running) restrictions. Performance of the Storwize V7000 will be degraded during the software upgrade process because node canisters are taken offline to perform the upgrade and the write cache is flushed when each node canister is restarted. IBM recommends you perform the upgrade at a time of lower overall I/O activity and when you do not expect significant spikes in the system workload. If you are performing a concurrent code upgrade, you must first ensure that all host paths are available and operating correctly. Check there are no unfixed events in the event log. Use normal service procedures to resolve these events before proceeding. Before upgrading the Storwize V7000, we recommend using the software upgrade test utility "upgradetest". Refer to the following URL for further information: http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=ssg1S4000585 Please see the following web page for the full upgrade compatibility matrix. http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=ssg1S1003705 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4. Code Levels 2076 Software: 2076 Release Level 6.1.0.10 (25.8.1108120000) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5. Problems Resolved and New Features New features in Storwize V7000 6.1.0.8: * This release contains fixes that are intended to lessen the possibility of data loss or error. The issues being corrected have only been observed under test conditions involving the continuous rebooting of nodes over extended periods of time without allowing time for recovery in between reboots. New features in Storwize V7000 6.1.0.7: * Add support for up to 10 enclosures New features in Storwize V7000 6.1.0.3: * Language Support for French, German, Italian, Japanese, Spanish, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese New service features in Storwize V7000 6.1.0.7 * Critical Update Notifications - When using a web browser running on a machine with an external internet connection, the GUI will notify the user of any critical flashes that describe issues on the Storwize V7000's current code level, and suggest an appropriate level to upgrade to if one is available APARs resolved in this release (6.1.0.10): Critical Fixes IC76700 Performance degradation and GUI access issues caused by frequent changes to cache status for large numbers of Volumes High Importance Fixes IC73450 Incorrect check condition sent to hosts following software upgrade IC74826 Node asserts and 578 reboot events IC76282 Easy Tier heat file missing IC76745 Multiple node asserts if medium errors are logged while a software upgrade is in progress IC76850 Node assert when processing iSCSI reservations IC76855 Error recovery procedure for HDS storage controllers can lead to offline mdisks IC77734 Persistent inter-canister link speed degradation if fans have been run at maximum speed IC77760 Error recovery procedure for EMC Clariion storage controllers can lead to offline mdisks Suggested Fixes IC74532 Node assert when force deleting Volumes APARs resolved in previous 6.1.x releases: 6.1.0.9 Critical Fixes IC76806 FlashCopy replication on Volumes greater than 2TB in size will result in incorrect data being written to the target Volume. IMPORTANT - customers using incremental FlashCopy with Volumes greater than 2TB in size must delete and recreate these FlashCopy mappings to ensure that data on the target Volume becomes consistent with the source 6.1.0.8 Critical Fixes IC74636 Simultaneous node asserts when applydrivesoftware command is run without specifying the -drive parameter IC75166 Large numbers of GUI connections can lead to host I/O performance degradation IC76123 Multiple node asserts triggered by ethernet network instability High Importance Fixes IC76264 Incomplete data from onboard statistics collection IC76482 Incorrectly logged 1048 errors Suggested Fixes IC75062 User-induced node warmstart is logged as an error and generates an associated call home event IC75270 Drives incorrectly reported as being in the wrong slots 6.1.0.7 Critical Fixes IC74953 Both node canisters shut down and lose hardened data during normal operation High Importance Fixes IC72925 Multiple node asserts when fibre channel switch nameserver query returns multiple instances of the same port ID IC74729 Unable to re-add node canister to configuration Suggested Fixes IC74954 Incorrect call home serial number IC71045 Incorrect cluster partnership bandwidth parameter displayed when value entered is 1024MB/s or greater IC74048 GUI does not automatically refresh Volumes view after a Volume has been deleted 6.1.0.6 Critical Fixes IC74088 Node canisters reboot during normal operation 6.1.0.5 Critical Fixes IC73492 Node canisters shut down during normal operation 6.1.0.4 Suggested Fixes IC72606 Node assert following fibre channel fabric link down event 6.1.0.3 Suggested Fixes IC71978 I/O queue depth change for EMC VMAX storage controllers 6.1.0.2 Critical Fixes IC72825 Loss of access/data error on thin provisioned Volumes with used capacity greater than 2TB ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6.
