Setting the Date and Time
The library date, time, time zone, and daylight saving time settings can be modified any time after the initial configuration.
You can modify the date and time settings manually or configure the Network Time Protocol (NTP) feature. NTP allows you to synchronize the library date and time with other components in your IT infrastructure. At least one and more than two NTP servers must be configured and available.
If NTP is enabled, the IP address of at least one and more than two NTP server(s) must be configured. Contact your network administrator for NTP server IP address information.
 |
NOTE: This operation should not be performed concurrently by multiple administrators logged in from different locations. You can access the appropriate screens, but you cannot apply changes while another administrator is performing the same operation.
|
You need administrator privileges to modify the date and time.
- From the Setup menu, select Date & Time.
The Setup - Date & Time screen displays. The current date and time settings appear in the Current Settings column.
- Set the date and time by doing one of the following:
- To manually configure the date and time, verify that Use NTP is disabled. Select a date from the drop-down calendar. Type the hour and minutes in the Enter Time text boxes. The library uses the 24-hour clock.
- To enable the NTP feature, select the Use NTP check box. Enter one or more valid NTP server IP addresses in the New Settings text box.
 |
CAUTION: Using two NTP servers can cause incorrect time calculations. You should use either one NTP server, or more than two, but not exactly two.
|
 |
NOTE: IP addresses may be entered using the IPv4 dot notation or using the IPv6 format. IPv4 addresses must be entered in dot notation (for example, 192.168.0.1). IPv4 address text boxes do not allow values exceeding 255 for dot-separated values.
|
- Set the time zone by doing one of the following:
- To set a standard time zone, disable Use Custom Time Zone (clear the check box) and select your time zone from the drop-down list.
- To set a custom time zone, enable Use Custom Time Zone (select the check box) and set a Universal Coordinated Time (UTC) offset. The offset can be set to an accuracy of one minute. Generally, you should not need to set a custom time zone, unless your time zone does not appear on the standard list, or you want more control over your time zone setting.
- Set daylight saving time by doing one of the following:
- If you set a standard time zone, the library automatically adjusts for daylight saving time.
- If you set a custom time zone, the library does not automatically adjust for daylight saving time. You must enable the Use Custom Daylight Saving Time setting by selecting the check box. Once enabled, you can set start and stop times to an accuracy of one minute.
 |
NOTE: The library may log you off after you change the time or time zone. If this happens, simply log back on.
|
- Click Apply.
The Progress Window displays. The Progress Window contains information on the action, elapsed time, and status of the requested operation. Do one of the following:
- If Success displays in the Progress Window, the date and time were successfully set. Click Close to close the Progress Window. If NTP is enabled, the system clock synchronization may take several minutes.
- If Failure displays in the Progress Window, the date and time were not set. Follow the instructions listed in the Progress Window to resolve any issues that occurred during the operation
