Ethernet Connectivity and Ethernet Expansion Blades
The Ethernet Expansion blade supports Ethernet connectivity for HP LTO-5 FC and HP LTO-6 FC tape drives in libraries that are 14U or larger. The library provides the following Ethernet connectivity and Ethernet Expansion blade functions:
- Viewing Status of an EE blade — Look at the library System Information Report (select Reports > System Information) or follow the below instructions.
- Power Cycling an EE blade — Follow the below instructions.
- Removing an EE blade — Follow the below instructions.
- Viewing Ethernet Connectivity of a Tape Drive — Two library web client pages contain information about whether a tape drive has Ethernet connectivity. See Retrieving Tape Drive Logs and Updating Tape Drive Firmware Using an Image File for more information.
To perform Ethernet Expansion blade functions, do the following:
- From the library web client, select Tools > Diagnostics to enter library diagnostics.
A message warns you that entering diagnostics will log out all other users of the same or lower privilege level.
- Click OK to agree to log all other users out.
The diagnostics menu bar displays.
- Select Drives > EE Blade Control.
- Click OK to proceed.
The Diagnostics - Ethernet Expansion Blade Control screen displays.
- Take any of the following actions:
- View Status: To view the status of an Ethernet Expansion blade, look at the Status column.
- Power Cycle an EE blade: Click the Cycle button for the blade you want to power cycle. It takes approximately 1 minute to power cycle an Ethernet Expansion blade. The status displays as “Booting” during the power cycle.
- Remove an EE blade: Click the Remove button corresponding to the Ethernet Expansion blade you want to permanently remove from or relocate within the library. (You do not need to do this if you are replacing an Ethernet Expansion blade in the same location.) Then remove the Ethernet Expansion blade from its slot. See the Scalar i500 User's Guide for complete instructions.
