Controlling FC I/O Blade Power

The the Web client allows you to turn on, turn off, or power cycle individual FC I/O blades in the library. It takes approximately 3 minutes to power cycle a blade.

You might want to turn on, turn off, or power cycle individual FC I/O blades when troubleshooting an FC I/O blade, such as when resolving a Reliability, Availability, and Serviceability (RAS) ticket.

Turning off an FC I/O blade will cause the library to temporarily lose communication with connected host applications.

NOTE: This operation should not be performed concurrently by multiple administrators logged in from different locations. You can access the appropriate screens, but you cannot apply changes while another administrator is performing the same operation.

You need administrator privileges to perform blade power operations.

  1. From the Setup menu, select FC I/O Blades > FC I/O Blade Control.

    The Setup - FC I/O Blade Control screen displays. The screen lists all the FC I/O blades found in the library.

  2. Identify the FC I/O blade(s) that you want to power on, power off, or power cycle.
  3. Do one of the following:
  4. If you are turning off or power cycling the FC I/O blade, click OK to acknowledge the warning message about host application communication loss. The Progress Window displays. The Progress Window contains information on the action, elapsed time, and status of the requested operation.
