Configuring FC I/O Blade Ports

When FC I/O blades are installed in the library, FC I/O blade port parameters can be configured using the Web client.

Each FC I/O blade has six ports. Ports 1 and 2 are always target ports and are configurable. Port 3 through 6 are always initiator ports and are not configurable. To view the current configured settings for all FC I/O blade ports, see Viewing FC I/O Blade Port Information.

For FC I/O blade ports 1 and 2, the following parameters can be configured:

• Loop ID — Loop IDs can be set to Auto or a hard value between 0 to 125. Selecting Auto automatically selects a unique loop ID. Some FC host operating systems require hard loop ID settings. The default setting is Auto.
• Speed — The interface speed can be set to Auto, 1Gb/s, 2Gb/s, or 4Gb/s. Selecting Auto automatically sets the interface speed. The default setting for the ports is Auto.
• Frame Size — Frame size can be set to 518, 1024, or 2048. The default setting for the ports is 2048. Your FC host might require a different setting.
• Connection — The topology connection type for the ports can be set to Loop (L), Point to Point, and Loop Preferred. The default setting for the ports is Loop Preferred.

  NOTE: To enable host port failover, both ports 1 and 2 must be set to Point to Point. If host port failover is configured, you cannot change the Connection setting, and a note indicating that host port failover is enabled displays next to the Connection drop-down list. If you need to change the settings, you can disable host port failover by clicking the "Click here to change" link next to the Connection drop-down list. NOTE: This operation should not be performed concurrently by multiple administrators logged in from different locations. You can access the appropriate screens, but you cannot apply changes while another administrator is performing the same operation.

1. From the Setup menu, select FC I/O Blades > Port Configuration.

   The Setup - FC I/O Blade Port Configuration screen displays. The screen lists the location, World Wide Node Name (WWNN), status, and ports for each installed FC I/O blade.

2. Select the FC I/O blade port you want to view or configure and click Next.

   The Setup - FC I/O Blade Port Configuration screen displays. The screen allows you to configure the loop ID, speed, frame size, and connection of the selected port. The screen also displays the location, World Wide Port Name (WWPN), and port number of the selected port.

3. Configure any of the following settings by selecting values from the drop-down lists:
   • Loop ID
   • Speed
   • Frame Size
   • Connection
4. Click Apply.

   The Progress Window displays. The Progress Window contains information on the action, elapsed time, and status of the requested operation.

   • If Success displays in the Progress Window, the port was successfully configured. Click Close to close the Progress Window.
   • If Failure displays in the Progress Window, the port was not successfully configured. Follow the instructions listed in the Progress Window to resolve any issues that occurred during the operation.
5. Save the library configuration.
