Technical support personnel might ask you to perform the capture snapshot operation, so they can better diagnose issues. The logged information consists of configuration data, status information, and trace logs for library components. Trace logs collect problem data and provide support personnel with vital library information for troubleshooting and solving problems.
The capture snapshot operation captures logged information in a single ASCII file that can be e-mailed to technical support personnel. For information on how to capture and e-mail a library snapshot, see E-mailing the Library Snapshot.
|
NOTE: Before you can e-mail the library snapshot, the library e-mail account must be configured. For more information about configuring the library e-mail account, see Configuring the E-mail Account. |
|
NOTE: If you configured the library e-mail account to automatically send a snapshot with RAS e-mail notifications (see Configuring the E-mail Account), and if the library is currently in the process of capturing a snapshot, you will not be able to manually capture a snapshot at the same time, and an error message will display. Wait about 10 minutes and try again. |
Depending on the library configuration and your connection speed, saving the library snapshot file takes approximately 30 minutes. The resulting file size can be large. Your firewall file-size limitations could prohibit you from e-mailing the file. In this situation, you can download the ASCII file to your computer. For information on how to capture and download a library snapshot, see Downloading the Library Snapshot.
