What should I do before installing my DS6000?
<Previous Next>
There are several things to do before you install the DS6000 system:
- Prepare your physical site so that it meets all applicable area, environment and power requirements.
- Identify or purchase a storage management console (SMC) and make sure that it meets the hardware and operating system requirements for compatibility.
- Gather the necessary configuration information for your installation, including world wide port names (WWPNs) of your open-systems hosts that you want to attach to the DS6000 series.
- Move the DS6000 system to your site and assemble all the tools and equipment you might need for the installation.
Be sure to review all the hardware and software requirements listed in the IBM System Storage Introduction and Planning Guide, to correctly prepare your environment for installation.
