What are the limitations of the Express Configuration wizard?
<Previous Next>
It is easier to configure your storage using the Express Configuration wizard than the custom configuration, but the wizard has these limitations:
- There is no way to reserve storage or set a threshold.
- Volumes are named automatically and must be uniform with the same type and size.
- Only 4-disk arrays and ranks can be created (often not the most space-efficient configuration).
- All volumes will be assigned to one volume group, and only one host can be mapped to that volume group from within the Express Configuration wizard.
- The DS6000 I/O ports through which the host will access the volume group are automatically assigned.
- Two balanced extent pools are created during an iteration, splitting the storage evenly across servers. It will automatically assign names of server0 and server1 to the extent pools.
- The Express Configuration wizard automatically assigns array sites.
You can use the Configuration Advisor to determine which method is right for you.
