A small real estate company recently purchased a DS6000 system to use as the storage system supporting an e-mail application server. The company currently has twenty Microsoft® Windows® servers, and requires reliable access to its storage. The administrator is not interested in advanced configuration options. What logical configuration would meet the company's needs?
Clients such as this real estate company can benefit from using the Express
Configuration option to quickly set up the DS6000 logical device configuration.
When you open the DS Storage Manager, use the navigation to launch the Express
Configuration wizard. Follow the on-screen instructions and provide information
about the desired DDM attributes, such as RAID level and DDM rpms. A configuration
is created that assigns the DDMs to the appropriate extent pool with the designated
RAID type.
The resulting configuration would include two identical extent pools. Each extent
pool would allocate half of its extents to create 100 volumes. This would provide
800 GB of storage.
