Detailed log service scenario (Text version)

<Previous Next>

Here's another example of servicing a more complex problem on a DS6000 system. As in the previous example, an administrator notices that a light path indicator is lit, but is unsure of the component that is causing the problem.

He goes to the console and isolates the problem by using DS Storage Manager to check detailed logs. He checks the detailed logs by navigating to Real-time Manager, selecting Monitor System, and then selecting Logs. Entries at the top of the list indicate recent errors, failed resources and resource locations. He determines that the disk drive module has failed.

Because he is unsure of how to replace this component, he views the helpful animated instructions that are available from the interface and then replaces the disk drive module.

The light path indicator is no longer lit, indicating a successful replacement.
