Simulated Manager makes it possible to set up configurations without immediately applying the changes to a running machine. When the configurations are set up, the configuration file can be exported to use for other machines.
Consider this scenario:
Company X has one DS6000 system, and orders four new DS6000 systems. The new systems must be configured similarly to the old system, but have more available storage. The new systems all have to be configured exactly the same.
To save time when the machines arrive, the administrator imports the configuration file to his Simulated Manager on the machine that will be used as the management console for the new machines. He adds the additional storage to the configuration. He exports the new configuration which serves as a backup.
When the new systems arrive, the administrator applies the configuration file to the four new machines. Because the details of the configuration are already completed, it takes much less time and effort to apply the configuration to the machines.
