When you are setting up your storage units, you must ensure that
you have configured your network so that it can support all the components
and functions that you use with your storage unit.
Configuring your network involves ensuring that various components
of the storage unit can connect to other points on your local area network
(LAN) or outside your LAN. It also involves supporting the ability of other
network components, such as hosts, to connect to the storage unit.
Use the
following steps as guidelines for configuring your network to support the
storage units:
- Ensure that you meet the network requirements for the Management
Consoles.
- Set up the necessary network connections that support the hosts
that will attach to your storage unit.
- Determine what you need to support the requirements for the modem
and for an outside connection if you will use remote support.
- When your storage units connect to a fibre-channel
storage area network (SAN), be sure that you meet the SAN requirements.
