Complete this task to complete the initial installation
of fiber optic cables and small form factor pluggables (SFPs).
Use approved ESD procedures to prevent damage.
Before you install the fiber optic cables, you must install either
a shortwave or longwave SFP in each port that you use to create an interenclosure
or host connection.
The fiber optic ports are located on the processor
card in the enclosure.
- Lift the wire or plastic tab and remove the protective
cap from the SFP module.
- Remove the protective cap from the SFP module port
on the server enclosure.
- Insert the SFP module into the SFP module port on the
server enclosure.
- Remove the protective caps from the fiber optic cable.
- Insert the fiber optic cable into the SFP module.
- Check to ensure that both the SFP module and fiber
optic cable are properly seated in the port.
