Installing the server enclosure in the rack

Complete this task to install the server enclosure in the rack.

Note: Screws are bagged and taped to the inside flange of the rail. Remove the bag prior to installing the server enclosures in the rack.
  1. Place the server enclosure in the rack.
    Note: If you removed the resources, you should be able to lift the unit into the cabinet with the help of one other person. If you did not remove the resources before installation, you need three people to lift the unit into the rack.
    1. Move the server enclosure to the front of the rack-mount cabinet.
    2. Slide the unit into the rack.
  2. Secure the server enclosure to the rack.
    1. Align the front mounting holes on each side of the server with the mounting holes on the front of the support rails.
    2. Insert an M5 hex screw into the mounting holes between the two pins on both sides of the front of the unit. Tighten the screws to secure the front of the server enclosure to both of the front cabinet rails.

    3. Ensure the rear screw mounting bracket is pushed up against the rear of the chassis. Remove the M5 countersunk screw from the bracket and insert it into the hole in the rear of the chassis. Tighten the screws. Repeat for the opposite side.

    4. Insert an M5 hex screw into the mounting hole between the two pins on both sides of the rear of the chassis. Tighten the screws to secure the rear of the support rails to both of the rear cabinet rails.
