The storage unit is queried for existing volume names, which are then compared
to the new names. This process can take an extensive amount of time.
- Prefix
- A character string that precedes the nickname.
- Numeric suffix
- A decimal or hexadecimal value that follows the nickname. This number
increases sequentially for the number of volumes that are created.
