ActionPad
Version: 4.0.9
August 26, 1999

HTML EDITOR/ FTP CLIENT with Drag 'n Drop Image tags, Spell Checking, Instant Color-Safe tags,
line numbering, many one-click keyboard shortcuts, open Multiple Documents at once, unlimited page size,
MRU list, Current List, Page Preview with NS or IE, Reset function -- and more. Executable is small enough to
use as a Notepad replacement with which to "View Source" with IE. Purpose is to eliminate need to
use utilities and to significantly boost production speed for custom HTML work.

Nothing WYSIWYG here, but if you already know what you are doing and know how to get it --
Actionpad can help you get it done much faster.

INSTALL:
The ap prefixed versions of ActionPad (ap_XXX.zip)
include the executable file only. This is handy for updating...

Actionpad requires VB6 Runtimes, available many places
and INCLUDED in the full-install version of Actionpad.
These are also available at the MS FTP site at:
ftp://ftp.microsoft.com/Softlib/MSLFILES/VBRUN60.EXE

THE FULL install (~2MB) contains the needed runtime files and updates
to standard Windows files necessary to run Actionpad. These include the
VB6 Runtime Files and Richtextbox control.
The Wininet.dll update is NOT included, as by itself can cause
problems with CorelDraw and a couple other programs... but if you have
IE4+ installed, or Win98, you are all set. Wininet.dll is needed for FTP functions.

TO USE AS NOTEPAD:
For Windows 95/98:
Rename Notepad.exe (usually in C:\Windows*) to NotepadOLD.exe
Rename ActionPad.exe to Notepad.exe, move file to C:\Windows*

For NT4:
Rename notepad.exe (in C:\Winnt\System32) to notepadOLD.exe
Rename ActionPad.exe to notepad.exe, move file to C:\Winnt\System32***

*These are the usual paths, dependent upon OS setup.
*** Notepad.exe may additionally appear in C:\Winnt*, but you need to
change file that exists in "System32".

SOFTWARE STATUS: Freeware

Freely Re-Distributable AS IS.
Just keep current documentation intact...
