IP Search Toolbar Likely to be Asked Questions
----------------------------------------------

Q) I am behind a firewall. Nothing works. What can I do?

A) First off, PInG should work fine if you are Pinging a
computer on the local network. You will never be able to
Ping anyone outside the local network if there is a true
firewall set up. Also, IP address lookups should be
working. For the other services you have two options:

	(1) If you access the Internet through a proxy
server that supports the Socks 4 protocol without
authentication, you should be able to use the the
socks 4 support included in the program. Just go
to the Settings dialog box, or look for help for
	Modifying Settings.

	(2) If your socks server requires socks 5 and / or
	authentication then go to http://www.socks.nec.com/
and download the SocksCap software. This software
is free and will allow you to run IP Search and other
programs 'socksified' through a socks 5 . Then
everything should work except pinging outside the
	local network.

(Q) When I try to use PING I get the message "Could not
create a raw socket!" What's up with that?

(A) The WINSOCK.DLL that comes with Windows 95 does not
support raw sockets, only TCP and UDP. The PING implemented
in IP Search requires raw sockets. You can choose to use
the Microsoft icmp.dll by modifying that setting in the Ping
tab of the IP Search Toolbar settings dialog. This will not
work for MultiPing, however. MultiPing will work under
Windows NT. If you want to use MultiPing in Windows 95,
Microsoft has created a new Winsock 2 which, among other
things, supports raw sockets. You can download the Winsock
2.0 software development kit directly from Microsoft. After
installing the sdk you must find the setup program that installs
winsock 2 itself. The sdk is currently available at
ftp.microsoft.com/bussys/winsock/winsock2.

(Q) How do I completely eradicate IP Search from my computer?

(A) If the version of the program you installed had an
InstallShield installation, you should remove IP Search from the
control panel by selecting Add / Remove Programs. If you
installed IP Search manually, then there are two steps to deleting
IP Search. First, delete the IPSearch files (see the included files
list in README.TXT). Then use regedit.exe to delete all of the keys
under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Ono-Sendai\IPSearch. That's
all.
