                   Customer-Specific Patch Summary


This Customer-Specific Patch Kit Distribution contains: 

   - fixes which are intended to resolve the problem(s) reported in: 
        o 221-2-593 
             * for Tru64 UNIX V5.1B T64V51BB25AS0004-20040616.tar (BL25)

	This kit includes a patch which requires system reboot.

 WARNING! NOT FOR GENERAL USE.
          These patches are tailored for an individual system's hardware and
          software configuration. Use of this patch kit, or patches contained
          in this kit, on any other system may cause that system to be in an
          inconsistent and non-operational state.

          This patch kit, or its content, may not be posted on any network or
          bulletin boards.


 The Release Notes contain a summary of each patch in this kit.

 Patches in this kit are installed by running dupatch from the directory 
 in which the kit was untarred. For example, as root on the target system:

	> mkdir -p /tmp/CSPkit1
	> cd /tmp/CSPkit1
	> <copy the kit to /tmp/CSPkit1>
	> tar -xpvf DUV40D13-C0044900-1285-20000328.tar
	> cd patch_kit
	> ./dupatch

 These patches have been tested and found to work correctly in the support
 engineering environment. However, it is possible that you may experience 
 different results running these patches in your computing environment.

 HP recommends that you install these patches in a NON-Production (testing)
 computing environment to ensure there are no side-effects (due to your specific
 configurations) PRIOR to installing the patches in your production environment.

BEFORE INSTALLING PATCHES:

 1. Verify the patch kit tar file was copied correctly.
	> sum PatchKitName.tar 

      Compare the checksum of the copied .tar file with the originating 
      .tar file checksum.

 2. Peruse the Patch Kit Release Notes and Patch Installation Guide to 
    understand such things as patch installation, installation operational 
    changes, files being changed. 

        Release Notes

        The Patch Kit Release Notes can be found in each product-specific
        directory. For example, if the kit contains Digital UNIX 4.0D
        patches and you untarred the kit in /tmp/CSPkit1/:

        - /tmp/CSPkit1/patch_kit/DIGITAL_UNIX_V4.0D/ReleaseNotes.txt

       
        Patch Installation Guide


        The Patch Installation Guide can be viewed with your browser by opening
        the following file (assuming the kit was untarred in /tmp/CSPkit1/:

        - /tmp/CSPkit1/patch_kit/PatchInstallGuide.htm
	
    New patch tools may be delivered with any patch kit so it's always 
    important to review the Patch Installation Guide and Release Notes for 
    dupatch operational changes. 

    NOTE: This patch kit may contain patches for more than one software
          product.

 3. If you want to review details for patches contained in this kit, such as
    the files being changed and source revision control information you 
    should untar the kit and use the dupatch documentation menu. For 
    example:
        o untar the patch kit in /tmp/CSPkit1
        o execute /tmp/CSPkit1/dupatch
        o use the dupatch documentation menu to display the detailed
          patch information.
