    The United States government passed an energy bill on August 8/2005.  It is part of an initiative to reduce energy consumption.  The bill will give the United States an extra four weeks of daylight saving time in 2007 and all subsequent years.        
    Canada will be changing their Daylight Saving Time rules in 2007 in order to stay consistent with the US.In Canada, daylight saving legislation is the responsibility of the provincial and territorial governments.Ten of the thirteen provincial and territorial governments have committed to follow the US daylight saving rules.  
     As a result Canadian DST rules require changes.
