                         Advanced Printing Software
                         Version 1.2B Release Notes

The following list provides the release notes for Version 1.2B of the
Advanced Printing Software:

o A new configuration file, apx.conf, has been added to the /usr/pd/scripts
directory to specify whether the NFS lock daemons (rpc.statd & rpc.lockd)
will be started by the Advanced Printing Software.

When the parameter APX_NFSLOCKING in the apx.conf file is set to "yes"
(the default value) or not defined in apx.conf, the Advanced Printing
software will start the NFS lock daemons. When APX_NFSLOCKING is set to
"no", the NFS lock daemons will not be started.

Note that NFS lock daemons are required by the Advanced Printing Software
if the Object Database is located on an NFS share.

o A new subset, APXPRINTERS, has been created for printers (*.paf files)
to make maintenance easier. In earlier versions of the Advanced Printing
Software, the printers were included in the APXADMIN subset.

Note in with this release, the APXADMIN subset has been split into
APXADMIN and APXPRINTERS subsets. The new APXPRINTERS subset will be
listed by the setld -l command.

o The following new printers are supported.

   HP ColorLaserJet4650 PS
   HP ColorLaserJet9500 PS
   HP LaserJet4250 PS
   HP LaserJet4350 PS
   HP LaserJet9040 PS
   HP LaserJet9050 PS

o The version string "V1.2A-030828" that appears on the banner page of print
jobs indicates that the binary build version is 1.2A and the build date is
28 August 2003. This string appears because the binaries were not built
for this release. (They were last built for V1.2A.) However, this new
Advanced Printing Software kit version is V1.2B.
