                     This card contains the information that you need to
                     install the Mail Monitor on a Windows NT system.

     Installation Prerequisites

           Before you install the DIGITAL[TM] Enterprise Mail
           Monitor, do the following:

           o  Make sure the following software is installed on your
              system.

              -  Windows NT[TM] V3.5 or later

              -  Windows[R] Sockets V1.1

           o  Back up your system disk.

           o  Deinstall any copies of Mail Monitor already installed
              on your system, using uninstall from the Start menu.

     Information Required

           To install the Mail Monitor, you need to know the the
           device name for the drive where the CD-ROM will be
           mounted.

     Time Required

           The time it takes to install the Mail Monitor depends on
           the resources available on your system. The installation
           takes approximately 5 minutes on an AlphaStation[TM] 250
           [4/266], when installing all scanning modules.

     Disk Space Required

           The following table shows the approximate amount of disk
           space required for the Mail Monitor server and the XCH
           module.

        Installing the Mail Monitor

              Insert the disk and run setup.exe. The installation wizard
              guides you through the installation process.

        After the Installation

              The setup tasks required after installation are described
              in the DIGITAL Enterprise Mail Monitor Server Guide,
              including:

              o  Authorizing clients

              o  Setting up peer servers

        Release Notes and Further Information

              After installation, the release notes are kept in the
              folder you choose during installation, with the name mm_
              release_notes.txt.

              Chapter 9 of the DIGITAL Enterprise Mail Monitor Server
              Guide contains a list of the files that should be present
              on your system after installation, and information about
              how to contact DIGITAL if the installation fails.
