  OpenVMS for Intel?
 The Question is:

Why the %*#$ isn't there a VMS for Intel?

 The Answer is:

Because there is a belief that there would be no market for this
  OpenVMS port to Intel IA32.

Because there are design features required by OpenVMS that are
not available on IA32, features that would require redesigning
OpenVMS to operate in the environment.

Because Alpha is faster than IA32.

Because Intel is replacing IA32 with IA64.

Because every one of the core applications would have to be ported
from Alpha to IA32 (or IA64), and then customer and third-party
applications would also have to be ported.

Because hobbyists have been able to acquire OpenVMS VAX systems
  and the DECUS hobbyist licenses.
