  logical name modes?
 The Question is:

What is the difference between logicals defined at the supervisory level
[super] and executive level [exec] ?

 The Answer is:

User and supervisor logical names are considered non-privileged, and
are thus potentially considered non-trustworthy within certain
  security-conscious contexts.

The creation of an executive logical name requires rather powerful
privileges. And when an executive logical name is defined in an a
logical name table that is accessable via a trusted search path, the
  logical name is considered trustworthy.

In certain contexts, such as installed privileged images, only
executive logical names will be translated. This restriction prevents
the nefarious-minded and non-privileged user from creating or altering
logical names that are used by the image activation process, and thus
prevents the user from hijacking the privileges.
