IDE CD-ROM support on Personal Workstation?
 The Question is:

I have an Alpha Personal Workstation 600au, that came with VMS 7.1-1H2
installed
plus the 7.1-1H2 CD. This workstation has an IDE CD. I need to reload the
operating
system ... BUT the thing won't boot from the CD ... I presume that the IDE
CD is not supported
for booting. This is a standalone system (no network, no external SCSI port
to connect a SCSI
CD which might boot) - how do I resolve this? The error message when
attempting to boot from
the IDE CD drive is "INIT_IO_DB-F-CFG_DEV_NOT_FOUND, a device on the boot
line, or in boot_dev,
cannot be found in the config tables" ... and "** Code=000001CC, INVEXCEPTN
execption while
above ASTDEL" and "** Crash CPU 0".

 The Answer is:

Acquire ALPDRIV07_071 or later from http://www.service.digital.com/,
or upgrade to OpenVMS V7.1-2 or later.
