. DECnet NetRAIN-like Capabilities? Failover? The Question is: Dear Wizard,HIs it possible to make Decnet Phase IV redundant ? With 2 NIC's i.e. NIC/ failover, same like IP services in OVMS 7.3-2. best regards The Answer is : B Yes. You will require a DECnet routing license and will have toB (re)configure the host as a DECnet router. (DECnet has had full2 multi-path routing capabilities for many years.) D Within DECnet Phase IV, you cannot connect two network controllersD to the same LAN segment, this to avoid network address collisions.D You can connect multiple controllers to separate LAN segments, and5 you can connect those segments with DECnet routers. J DECnet-Plus uses the NIC hardware address and not an address synthesizedE from the DECnet Phase IV address; you can have multiple controllersH connected to the same LAN segment when using DECnet-Plus. (The use ofK the Phase IV address is the central limit preventing multiple controllers5 on the same network segment under DECnet Phase IV.) 0 Answer written or last revised on 18-MAY-2004
