Ŀ

              DOS Automatic Installation (DOSINST.EXE program)

This program either installs or uninstalls Procom Technology, Inc. external
floppy driver (FDRIVER.COM), depending on the option you select.

The install option modifies your AUTOEXEC.BAT file to include the
Procom Technology, Inc. external floppy driver (FDRIVER.COM) and copies
 FDRIVER.COM to your boot drive.

The uninstall option reverses the changes that were made to your AUTOEXEC.BAT
file during installation, and resets the system configuration.

 Installation Procedure:
 -----------------------
 1. Insert your Procom Technology, Inc. installation diskette (DK0011) into
    drive A.

 2. At the A: prompt type:

      DOSINST <Enter>

 3. Follow the instructions as they will appear on the screen.

 Special Notes:
 --------------
 * To install FDRIVER on drive A, you must have a bootable DOS diskette.
You will be prompted to enter a bootable DOS diskette into drive A
   during installation.

 * The Uninstall option removes FDRIVER from your AUTOEXEC.BAT file.
However, to complete the uninstall procedure, you must either reboot
the system with the IBM PS/2 reference diskette in drive A and run
automatic configuration, or press ESC to abort the program and type
FDRIVER /q at the A: or C: prompt.

Ŀ

             OS/2 Automatic Installation (OS2INST.EXE program)

This installation program copies the Procom Technology, Inc. device drivers
to your hard disk drive, and modifies your CONFIG.SYS and ABIOS.SYS files.

 Installation Procedure:
 -----------------------
 1. Install OS/2 on your hard disk drive.

 2. Boot from your OS/2 boot drive.

 3. Open an OS/2 command-line window.

 4. Insert your Procom Technology, Inc. installation diskette (DK0011) into
    drive A.

 5. At the [C:\] prompt type:

      A:\OS2INST <Enter>

 6. Follow the instructions as they will appear on the screen.

 7. When the installation is complete, remove the installation diskette
    from drive A.

 8. Press <Ctrl-Alt-Del> to reboot from your OS/2 boot drive.

 9. Insert the Procom Technology, Inc. installation diskette (DK0011) into
    drive A.

 10. At the [C:\] prompt type one of the following lines:

      A:\OS2SETUP <Enter> For PXF1200
      A:\OS2SETUP/T <Enter> For PXF360
      A:\OS2SETUP/P <Enter> For PXF1440/II
A:\OS2SETUP/S <Enter> For Model 55-031 (Any PXF Series drive)

 11. Press <Ctrl-Alt-Del> to reboot the system.

 Special Notes:
 --------------
The OS/2 installation program will modify your ABIOS.SYS file to include one
 of the following lines:

PXF360.BIO For PXF360 external floppy drive.
PXF1200.BIO For PXF1200 external floppy drive.
PXF1440.BIO For PXF1440/II external floppy drive.

NOTE: The PXF360.BIO or PXF1440.BIO will be included in your ABIOS.SYS
for IBM PS/2 model 55-031 only.

Your CONFIG.SYS file will also be modified to include:

      IOPL=YES

NOTE: To run the OS2SETUP.EXE program the IOPL must be "ON". After you
run the OS2SETUP.EXE program, you may remove the IOPL=YES statement
       from your CONFIG.SYS file.

 Uninstall(Automatic):
 --------------------
The uninstall option reverses the changes that were made to your ABIOS.SYS
file during installation. To uninstall the Procom Technology, Inc. external
floppy drive, proceed with the following steps:

 1. Boot from your OS/2 boot drive.

 2. Open an OS/2 command-line window.

 3. Insert your Procom Technology, Inc. installation diskette (DK0011) into
    drive A.

 4. At the [C:\] prompt type:

      A:\OS2INST <Enter>

 5. Select "Uninstall External Floppy Drive" from the first menu.

 6. Follow the instructions as they will appear on the screen.

 7. When the uninstall process is complete, remove the Procom Technology, Inc.
    installation diskette from drive A.

 8. Turn off the system.

 9. Disconnect the Procom Technology, Inc. external floppy drive from your
    system.

 10. Boot with your IBM reference diskette in drive A.

 11. Select automatic configuration to activate your new configuration.

NOTE: The OS/2 installation program will modify your CONFIG.SYS
to include "IOPL=YES". The uninstall option, however, will
not remove "IOPL=YES" line from your CONFIG.SYS file. If
you wish to turn IOPL "OFF" after completing the installation,
you must edit your CONFIG.SYS file and remove this line manually.

Ŀ

                   DOS Installation (Manual Installation)

NOTE: FDRIVER /P (for PXF1440/II) and FDRIVER /T (for PXF360) must be
loaded only if you have one of the following systems:

       IBM PS/2 Model 25
       IBM PS/2 Model 30
       IBM PS/2 Model 30 286
       IBM PS/2 Model 55 sx (55-031)
       IBM PS/2 Model 57 sx * PXF1440/II Only
       IBM PS/2 Model 90 * PXF360 NOT SUPPORTED
       IBM PS/2 Model 95 * PXF360 NOT SUPPORTED

For other IBM PS/2 systems, setup your PXF360 and PXF1440/II with your
IBM PS/2 reference diskette. ( See your PXF user guide for more
 information)

 Installation Procedure:
 -----------------------
 1. Insert your Procom Technology, Inc. installation diskette into drive A.
Copy FDRIVER.COM to the root directory of your bootable hard disk drive.
If your system does not have a hard disk, copy FDRIVER.COM to your
    bootable DOS diskette.

 2. Check to see if you have an AUTOEXEC.BAT file. If you do, edit the
AUTOEXEC.BAT file and add one of the following lines (depending on
the type of external floppy drive you have installed) to the first
line of your AUTOEXEC.BAT file in the format shown:

      FDRIVER For PXF1200
      FDRIVER /T For PXF360
      FDRIVER /P For PXF1440/II

NOTE: If you experience problems installing in a PS/2
model 55sx, remove FDRIVER by typing FDRIVER /Q
          and reinstall by typing:

      FDRIVER /S For PXF1200
      No FDRIVER needed For PXF360
      No FDRIVER needed For PXF1440/II

If you don't have an AUTOEXEC.BAT file, create one by typing:

      COPY CON AUTOEXEC.BAT <Enter>
      FDRIVER /X <Enter> (Where X could be /P for PXF1440/II or /T
for PXF360. For PXF1200 do not specify any
                             switch option.)
     ^Z (Ctrl-Z or "F6" function key)

 Uninstall(Manual):
 ------------------
 1. To uninstall the FDRIVER, remove the line containing FDRIVER from your
AUTOEXEC.BAT file using any text editor.

 2. At this point either reboot the system with the IBM reference diskette in
drive A and select "Automatic Configuration" to reconfigure your system,
or type FDRIVER /Q at A: or C: prompt.

Ŀ

                         OS/2 1.3 Manual Installation
