The distribution diskette supplied with the EXM-28 includes IPX and ODI
drivers for DOS/Windows.

ODI

Users of Netware 4.0 and above will most likely want to use the supplied
ODI driver for the EXM-28. To use the ODI driver, you will need the
Novell worstation modules LSL.COM, IPXODI.COM, and NETX.COM. Consult
your network administrator to obtain these from your Novell system software.

On your EPC, create a directory to contain the EXM-28 ODI driver and the
Novell workstation modules, like:

mkdir c:\exm28

You can use any directory name, but we will use exm28 in this document.
Now copy LSL.COM, IPXODI.COM, and NETX.COM that you obtained from your
Novell system distribution to c:\exm28. Then copy TRXNET.COM from the
EXM-28 distribution floppy to c:\exm28.

Copy the file NET.CFG from the EXM-28 distribution floppy to the root
directory of your boot drive. This file must be edited with a text editor
to ensure that the settings for port, IRQ, and RAM base match those you
selected during hardware installation.

At this point, everything is ready to load the ODI driver. Type these
commands to do so (or place them in your AUTOEXEC.BAT):

c:\exm28\lsl
c:\exm28\trxnet
c:\exm28\ipxodi
c:\exm28\netx

Now, type "f:login" to log in to a Netware server.

IPX

Users of Netware versions older than 3.11 may wish to use the IPX driver.
An IPX.COM can be created from the RXNETIO.LAN and RXNETIO.OBJ provided
on the EXM-28 distribution floppy. This is done by using the Novell WSGEN
program. Details can be found ini your NetWare 3.11 INstallation manual on
page 165 (the WSGEN section in the DOS Workstation Installation manual).

After generating IPX.COM from the RXNETIO files, make a directory to
contain your LAN drivers, like:

mkdir c:\exm28

Nox copy the new IPX.COM for your EXM-28 to c:\exm28, along with a copy
of NETX.COM (which you must obtain from your Novell system software).

[Check the Novell manual on the IPX syntax below]

The IPX.COM driver is configured for particular hardware setups with
invocation options. To see what hardware configurations an IPX.COM can
accomodate, type "IPX /D". The defualt is indicated with an asterisk.

To start up the EXM-28 IPX driver, run the following commands, or put
them in your AUTOEXEC.BAT:

c:\exm28\ipx
c:\exm28\netx

If the default hardware configuration supported by your IPX.COM doesn't
match the hardware configuration of your EXM-28, use the /On option to
IPX.COM to select another of its supported configurations.

Now, type "f:login" to log in to a Netware server.

Other operating systems

RadiSys Corp. supplied only IPX and ODI drivers for the EXM-28, which are
used for DOS and Windows. Other operating systems, like QNX, may provide
drivers for Arcnet cards using the COM90C66 chip from SMC.
