                      DPT COMPANY PROCEDURE

Title: Installation Procedure
Product: PM2012/90
Date: 5/16/90

1.0 Purpose

This document is to be used as a guide during installation of the
PM2012/90 with a SCSI drive in an EISA machine.

2.0 System and Program Requirements

An EISA machine and SCSI drive is required for use with the
PM2012/90. The installation and setup require the !DPT2402.CFG
EISA configuration file, the DPTFMT CMOS setup program, and
optionally the EATA13 Evaluation TSR driver for maximum performance.

3.0 Installation Description

     (1) Install the PM2012/90 in an EISA slot of an
          EISA machine.

     (2) Attach a SCSI drive at ID 0. Any other ID may
be chosen with EISA configuration program if the
EATA13 driver is not used. However, for maximum
performance, this driver must be used, and will
assume drive 0 (C:) is at SCSI ID 0, LUN 0.

     (3) Run the EISA configuration program (not
included with this product) and add the
PM2012/90 to the system definition. The
supplied !DPT2402.CFG file is in the standard
MCS format. The EATA13 driver uses interrupt
14 and the primary address location, 1FX. This
is the default; do not change it. Set unused
          drives to "DISABLED".

     (5) Boot DOS from floppy and run DPTFMT. This
program will setup the CMOS for the best
fitting drive type. If the EISA DMA driver is
to be loaded in a later step, choose DOS in
          the OS selection window.

     (6) Install DOS on the hard drive following the
same steps for installation as with a WD1003
and a standard AT. The PM2012/90 defaults to
standard ISA mode and will run without the
          EATA13 program being loaded.

     (7) Boot DOS from the hard drive. If the EATA13
driver is to be used, run EATA13 at the DOS
prompt. This program is a TSR which replaces
the standard INT13 and converts all I/O calls
to EATA command packets. Installation is now
          complete.
