BW59X.EXE
BW59X is a DOS based update/configuration utility for
BootWare/3C59X-EISA and BootWare/3C59X-PCI version 1.50. Users
of BootWare/3C59X-PCI version 1.8 or higher must use BWUPDATE
to update or configure BootWare.

Requirement:	- BootWare/3C59X-PCI (version 1.5 or lower) or
				  BootWare/3C59X-EISA must be present
				- adapter must be 3C592 or 3C597 EISA Adapters


Steps:
=====

1. Boot clean from hard/floppy disk by pressing F5 during the
   "Starting MS-DOS" message. Make sure the network adapter driver
   is NOT loaded.

2  If you have the problem where the system simply ignores the BootROM,
   ignore step 2.

   McAfee ROMShield HAS to be disabled. Goto BootWare/3C59X configuration
   facility by pressing <CTL><ALT><B> and disable ROMShield.

3. Type BW59X and then choose UPDATE from the main menu. Choose the
   appropriate version of BootWare Image file to update.

Menu Selection Explanation:
==========================

Update ROM:
	< BootWare/3C59X-EISA is not updatable but BootWare/3C59X-PCI is.>

Change Default Protocol:
	Change the boot protocol between NetWare, RPL and
	TCP/IP. The highlighted boot protocol is the
	current selection.

Configure BootWare ROM:
	Customize BootWare/3C59X with different feature.
	The parameters available to configure are
	dependent upon the default boot protocol selected.

Configure ROM Image File:
	< BootWare/3C59X-EISA is not updatable but BootWare/3C59X-PCI is.>

Exit Program:
	Exit BW59X utility



Error Messages:
==============

<3Com Bus Mastering Adapter not found>
Cannot find 3C592 (EtherLink III EISA Bus Mastering adapter) or
3C597 (Fast EtherLink EISA adapter). Run 3C59XCFG.EXE (3Com
Configuration/Diagnostic Program) to make sure that the adapter
is functioning correctly.

<Error:\nBootWare/3C59X not found.>
BW59X is unable to find BootWare/3C59X
Make sure that BootROM is enabled by using 3C59XCFG.EXE (3Com
Configuration/Diagnostic Program). Also try to run a BootWare
Utility called ROMSCAN.EXE which will indicate if BootWare is actually
mapped on the system. It also is possible that the BootWare you
have is corrupted. If you suspect your BootWare is corrupted,
please call/fax/email Lanworks for assistance.

<Update failed>
Make sure that ROM size is set to 64K. Try using BW59X on a different
system. If the problem persists, Call/fax/email BootWare Technical
Support for assistance.

<Error 001:\nUnable to program BootWare/3C59X>
Version of BW59X is not appropriate for the BootWare you have.
Call/fax/email Lanworks to obtain the latest version of BW59X.
