AMBRA ATS Readme file for the LMS205.ADD Phillips CD-ROM driver for OS/2

INSTALLATION NOTES 
==================

The LMS205.ADD driver is 33251 bytes, dated 12-03-93.


INSTALLING THE OS/2 2.1 CD-ROM PACKAGE 
======================================

o Diskcopy DISKETTE 1 from the OS/2 package.

o Copy the LMS205.ADD file to this backup diskette.

o Edit the CONFIG.SYS file and add the following line:

        BASEDEV=LMS205.ADD /U:0 /M:26 /V

o Insert the INSTALLATION DISKETTE into drive A, reboot, and follow the 
  instructions to install OS/2.

O After installing OS/2, there may not be support for the CD-ROM drive.
  Therefore, you may have to manually add support as follows:

  (NOTE:DO NOT SHUTDOWN AND RESTART OS/2. THE FOLLOWING INSTALL WILL PROMPT
  YOU FOR SOME OS/2 DISKETTES ON THE CD-ROM WHICH WILL BE UNAVAILABLE IF YOU
  RESTART.)

        o After installation, open a OS/2 command prompt, and copy the
          LMS205.ADD file into the OS2 directory:
 
                COPY A:\LMS205.ADD C:\OS2

        o Edit the CONFIG.SYS file and add the BASEDEV statement exactly as
          it appears above.

        o Open the OS/2 SYSTEM folder.

        o Open the SYSTEM SETUP folder.

        o Double-click on the SELECTIVE INSTALL icon.

        o Check off the CD-ROM DEVICE SUPPORT section and click OK.

        o Select OTHER from the list of supported CD-ROM devices and click OK.

        o Click OK in the SYSTEM CONFIGURATION screen.

        o Click INSTALL in the OS/2 SETUP AND INSTALLATION screen.

        o Install will prompt you for a source directory. Insert the disk with
          the LMS205.ADD driver and click OK.

        o The following lines should have been added after installation:

                DEVICE=C:\OS2\OS2CDROM.DMD /Q
                IFS=C:\OS2\CDFS.IFS /Q

        o Go to the DESKTOP and SHUTDOWN. After reboot, you should have CD-ROM
          support.


INSTALLING CD SUPPORT AFTER INSTALLING OS/2 FROM DISKETTES 
==========================================================

o Copy the LMS205.ADD file to a blank diskette.

o At a OS/2 command prompt, copy the LMS205.ADD file into the OS2 directory:

        C:\COPY A:\LMS205.ADD C:\OS2

o Edit the CONFIG.SYS file and add the BASEDEV statement exactly as
  it appears above.

        BASEDEV=LMS205.ADD /U:0 /M:26 /V

o Open the OS/2 SYSTEM folder.

o Open the SYSTEM SETUP folder.

o Double-click on the SELECTIVE INSTALL icon.

o Check off the CD-ROM DEVICE SUPPORT section and click OK.

o Select OTHER from the list of supported CD-ROM devices and click OK.

o Click OK in the SYSTEM CONFIGURATION screen.

o Click INSTALL in the OS/2 SETUP AND INSTALLATION screen.

o Install will prompt you for a source directory. Insert the disk with
  the LMS205.ADD driver and click OK.

o The following lines should have been added after installation:

        DEVICE=C:\OS2\OS2CDROM.DMD /Q
        IFS=C:\OS2\CDFS.IFS /Q

o Go to the DESKTOP and SHUTDOWN. After reboot, you should have CD-ROM
  support.



NOTES 
=====

o If you install MMPM/2 support, and use the CD-ROM music player, there won't 
  be a volume slider in the application.  The VOLUME CONTROL program will 
  adjust the CD/SYSTEM SOUNDS volume levels, but you won't hear the change 
  until you quit the VOLUME application.

OS/2 2.1 for Windows.  This driver has not been tested with OS/2 version 2.0
and earlier.
