CryptorCryptor is revolutionary file encryption system based on cellular automata encryption (CAE) algorithm. OS/2 version (works under OS/2 3.0 Warp and OS/2 4.0 Warp) is written entirely on IBM VisualAge for C++ 3.0. Current version allows you to put as many as 99 files into one encrypted file, has three different security levels and several customizing options.
This was done to ensure superb security.
Decryption will proceed with any password, HOWEVER only original password (one that was used for encryption) will give in truly decrypted, original file. Thus, each unsuccessful attempt to break Cryptor's security system will result in one file of gibberish for the breaker.
You can use encryption on already encrypted file, with same or different password. Just make sure you apply passwords for decryption in reverse order.
Non-deterministic effect means encrypted file is different every time you encrypt file, even if you provide same password and security level. This is yet another feature to destroy any breaker's hopes.
Convenience considerations:
To encrypt / decrypt files with Cryptor is no-brainer even for person who has no previous experience with file security systems before.
Both procedures takes very little time even for large files and high security settings. The speed with which Cryptor will encrypt you file is virtually the same as speed of reading the file from your hard drive and saving it back. A lot of research was done to improve speed parameter of algorithm. New version also takes advantage of virtual memory management offered by OS/2 and uses caching techniques.Therefore system requirements are extremely low.
You can encrypt / decrypt up to 99 files at once. This is real time saver.
With new version of Cryptor you can encrypt several files into one, called fold. For example, you can make encrypted backup of your database in one step. Then you can extract files from fold with ease.
There's no such thing as maximum file size for Cryptor. If your hard drive can store it, we can encrypt it.
Both for encryption and decryption you can accept same location for target file or provide a new one. All necessary checks and precautions will be made. There's no way you can loose any of your data, even if accident like power surge has occur.
User can select from three security levels ( Low, Medium and High ). Low level is fastest, High gives you virtually unbreakable security.
Although transformations Cryptor perform during encryption are complicated and result has no resemblance with original file, file size is only few bytes more.
Cryptor and CAE (Cellular Automata Encryption) algorithm are very adaptive and can be modified to encrypt database files, outgoing e-mail messages etc. and incorporated into any system that deals with information.
