b+m Print-Part for VisualAge C++

The b+m Print-Part enables you to print business graphics as built with the b+m Chart-Part, tables created by the IBM Spreadsheet-Part, objects of type IString, IBitmap, IEntryField etc. and your own objects created by using the programming interface of the print part. The b+m Print-Part works on every printer device driver in graphics mode. You define a page layout by adding the printable graphic parts to the b+m Print-Part print manager, defining size and position of the desired area on the page. You can define printable parts as repeatable objects. Objects of this kind will be repeated on each following page on the same place.

Also contained is a preview part you can insert into your application. With this preview part you can inspect the layout of your pages before they got printed.

Features

• A programming interface allows you to define your own printable objects.
• The b+m Print-Part actually supports the following classes resp. parts:
  • b+m Chart-Part
  • IBM Spreadsheet-Part
  • multiline entry fields
  • strings in any way
  • IBitmaps
• You can place as many objects you like onto a layout page. A manual page break can also be added to the Print Manager.
• If the printable object expands over the defined print region on the layout page, it depends on the overflow method whether the objects requests another page to the bottom or to the right of the current page. The overflow mechanism has to be realized by the printable objects.
• Each printable object can be made a repeatable object. Objects of this kind occur on each following page. This functionality gives you the ability to design formula pages.
• The printable strings may contain special control characters for text formatting e.g. \n for manual line break, \p for the actual page number, \| for text centering etc..
• Printer settings like paper style and margins can also be set.
• A preview part is contained, enabling your application to integrate a preview window. You can inspect the print pages before print in the preview window. Stepping backwards and forwards through the pages is possible too.

The b+m Print-Part is available for VisualAge C++ version 3.0 for OS/2 or VisualAge C++ version 3.5 for Windows.
